Hello! I'd like to welcome all of you to Petite Pups. I hope you will enjoy sharing ideas and interests on this forum. You can use it for anything you wish as long as it is "clean" and no one gets nasty.
I'm sure you must all have one thing in common....an interest in dogs or puppies. Those of you who already have pets
may be able to help the ones who are in the process of getting a pet or just thinking about it. I'm sure we would love to hear
stories about your furbabies, or help you with concerns about obtaining or caring for a new furbaby.
I'd be glad to post information for you, just let me know what you're interested in.

Picked up my maltese, Nittany, one month ago and absolutely adore him.  He feisty and loves to play...and right now chew on things, but that's been getting better each day.  He (for the most part) is litter trained...i'd say 90-95%!  We have a great daily routine and feel that we have bonded quite nicely!  I was his eyes/face each day, so if anyone else finds anything else they recommend for the tear staining, please don't hesitate to pass along.  He loves to sit on my lap and chew a nylabone for the longest time and noticed that whenever music comes on the tv, he watches and listens intently...how cute!!Tomorrow he is getting microchipped...I'm nervous, but have been told that it is no big deal.  Anyway, couldn't be happier!!!

Has anyone tried the Angel's Eyes supplements?  I have used the Eye Envy and found the liquid to help some and the powder does absorb moisture and is white so I thought it did help some.

Don't worry about the microchipping, Nittany won't mind it any more than getting a shot. It will all be over in an instant....don't watch though, the needle is scary looking.

I love my Ziggy.  He is only 2 pounds.  Thinking about getting him a play-mate from Karen.

Yes, you can use Angel's Eyes on Yorkies, but I don't recommend using anything on tiny dogs unless you absolutely have to.....their systems are very sensitive.

Here is an update to the Angel Eyes question.  As I was doing some research on grooming I came across an article that said Angel Eyes contains low dose Tetracycline, which is an antibiotic.  I wouldn't recommend giving any dog, especially these little guys, an antibiotic on a regular basis.  They could develop a resistance to the drug and it wouldn't be useful if the dog became ill and needed it or they could have an allergic reaction to it.

I dug a little deeper and found that you could try using bottled water instead of tap or filtered water.  Do not give your dog any foods with added coloring.  Trim the stained hair, clean the eye area daily using a shampoo for white coats, dry the area and apply Desitin or Vaseline to repel moisture.  Cornstarch will absorb moisture and help prevent staining as well.
